I have watched or listened to this movie more times than I can count. Mark Rylance is perfect as the BFG, his expressions are so amazing, and heartwarming. I bought the book too. It's on Prime, so watch it if you can, and is the best family movie ever.

The "BFG", short for Big Friendly Giant, is a children's fantasy comprised of giants and two great characters played by Ruby Barnhill, as Sophie, and Mark Rylance as the BFG. This movie is based off the book written by Roald Dahl for his "Late daughter, Olivia, who died of measles encephalitis at the age of seven in 1962."(wikipedia)
The CGI(computer generated imagery) is placed over the actors and enables the fine articulate contours of Mark Rylance to be relaxed as a peddling giant in all his debonair demureness. Ruby Barnhill as Sophie, an orphan who is kidnapped by the BFG is defiant to confinement but angelically subordinate to sage authority. This movie offers gifts of diversion, imagination, motivation, and drama. A new world is spired above these refinements and it is a positive, uplifting experience.

BFG-Beautiful, Fantastic, Glorious

I wasn't aware that this movie existed until I was on a plane heading for B.C. and stumbled upon it later in my journey so I didn't see it in it's entirety until I was on the plane back home. What an amazing adventure! Sophie, the little girl, is wise beyond her years and the BFG - who wouldn't want someone like this in their corner? The friendship they develop and what they teach each other is a splendid unfurling of what can happen when two people see each other, warts and all, and love each other in spite of it. What a wonderful story! Mind you, it can be scary so it's not for the little 'uns to watch. I recommend this to everybody who needs a reminder of how differences can enhance our world. LOVED IT!!!!

BFG is a wonderful, original and colorful fairy tale. This is a bed time story to be read to all children and this is a movie to be seen with the entire family for it is as well as much entertaining for adults. The special effects are incredibly amazing. I was simply delighted from the first picture to the last one. The special features were also very pleasant, funny and instructive. Every single minute of those Blu-Ray - DVDs was an enchantment.
After his ET and Jurassic Park, BFG brings us back to the world of fantasy and imagination that he only possess. It is a diamond and it is now part of my collection.

This is one of my favourite movies. It's funny, it's charming, quite touching in parts, and Mark Rylance is superb as the BFG. Animation also is fantastic. Everything we've come to love and expect from Steven Spielberg. This movie should appeal to young and old alike and I highly recommend it. (Showed it to my 80-something parents and they loved it; made them laugh like kids.)

One of my favorite Dahl stories. The movoe does not disappoint. Mark Rylance is fabulous as the BFG. Sadly, the disc case was damaged in transit.
