Hi Baby GoodBuys readers, I’m in need of some advice!

As most of you know, my husband and I just had our second baby, almost exactly 12 months after our first. We found a sweet deal on this Graco Duoglider double stroller last winter, so we snapped it up. We didn’t realize how cumbersome and, well, huge this tandem/limo-style stroller was until we tried to load it up in our small SUV to head out of town last weekend. Sadly, we realized two single strollers take up less space than this monster!

Fortunately, my husband is off from work for a few more weeks while we welcome our second baby into our family, so two single strollers will work for us temporarily. Once he goes back to work, I’ll need a double stroller to get out of the house with my two little ones.

Readers, do you have any suggestions for double strollers that fold up more compactly than a tandem style-stroller? What about something lightweight? I’m open to side-by-side or front-to-back, and I’m obviously willing to hunt for a deal if you have a pricier suggestion! All comments are welcome, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

I have the Baby Trend sit and stand. Great that you can attach any carseat to it in the front for the baby and the older child can either sit facing forward or backward or stand up and see. Gives them mobility which is sometimes a catch 22, lol. But I saw reviews for the duo-glider and heard it was cumbersome and the sit and stand, though still large, got much better reviews. It is easy to get in and out and though it's a one handed open and close, I usually use two. Plenty of storage space beneath and cup holders up top. Got the set at Walmart. Good luck in your search!

I have the Sit & Stand, too. It folds up to about the same size as my single Graco does!

My kids are 16 months apart and we had no problem using the stroller. I love that my older daughter can sit facing me sometimes, too ~ if we're somplace crowded and she's nervous, it's perfect. I've also taken it on 4 round trip flights so far and it's stood up to the abuse an airline can throw at it.

If I were to buy another one, I might look at getting the Sit & Stand Deluxe instead of just the regular one. But I'd definitely pick it again!

I have a Bob Revolution Duallie, which is so great for walking, going to the zoo, etc. It's not the greatest for tight spots like the mall. My older one is big enough to walk when we go there.

I think a lightweight stroller is best. This one reclines too! And it does not weigh a ton

I had the same problem with my graco duo glider. It is a great stroller and fit in my husbands car, but doesn't fit in mine. Because we have that stroller, we didn't want to buy another one. I have two cheap umbrella strollers and imagined there had to be something out there that could connect them. I searched on the internet and found that Prince Lionheart makes stroller connectors. They are a God send!! So easy to put together and take apart. I've been able to go a lot more places, quick and easy with my twins. If your single stroller work with them, I hight recommend them because they are MUCH cheaper then buying a new stoller. The only draw back is that it is a little hard to fit through doors, but to me it is worth it.

Also, the Dream On Me Twin stroller posted from 'Anonymous' above looks great! I wish I would have seen that a long time ago!

I think the sit and stand strollers are great for two kids. I have the joovy caboose ultralight and love it but I don't know if I'd recommend it to you since your kids are only 12 months apart. The older one may want to nap and the sit and stands wont work. The side by side doubles(if you opt for this try to go with narrower kind unless if your kids need the space) are easier to maneuver but you might have a hard time getting through doorways and the tandems aren't as wide as side by sides but they are a pain in the butt to maneuver.

I’m due in a few days and my kids will be 18 months apart. I really like the idea of the sit and stand but I think I need to get the sit and stand plus because instead of just a bench for seating in the back, it has a full seat that can be removed to convert to a typical sit and stand. I think this is important for us because our older kids aren’t that old and might want to nap or may need more than a lap strap to restrain them (my soon to be “big” sister can wiggle out of many restraints). My friend has a sit and stand and claims she can get 3 kids on it. Baby in front, one standing and one sitting. I can’t really picture it though.

My kids are 16 months apart & after much research I decided on the sit n stand plus. The stroller was pretty big with the car seat attachment but was a necessity with an infant. My daughter is 6 months now & she sits in the back seat while my 23 month old son sits in the front .
We still haven't used the sit n stand feature but it will definitely come in handy next summer when they're both older. It folds up nicely & fits well in my Trailblazer.

All in all I think this was the best investment for what we needed. This should be the last stroller that I ever have to buy.

Baby Jogger – City Mini, Very light plus fits thru doors. I have the single one but when we have baby #2 we will be getting this one.

Mountain Buggy Urban Double is amazing with 2 kiddos. It feels like the stroller is pushing them for you even up hill. And it can take an optional bassinet for the newborn. Can't say enough about this stroller. It is pricey but there are deals out there, new or second hand.

The Peg Perego Aria 60/40 is an umbrella type stroller that can take a car seat. It takes up little room when folded and is good for the mall but not ground that is grassy, sandy, or full of pot holes.

I am going against the grain here. I have a 4 month old and a 20 month old and here's what we've done for most of the summer. It's been easier to put the baby in the moby wrap and put the older one in the umbrella stroller. But, if I had to choose a double stroller right now I've researched the sit and stand double stroller from one step ahead[dot]com It's gotten great reviews and won't break the bank.
