I've had it in the back of my head to write a post featuring baby products that have made it onto my shelf in our bathroom. Many brands of baby products have excellent reputations for taking care of our babies, it just makes sense that I might use some of them on myself.
While I do use some products intended for Haiden and Piper for myself, Johnson's Baby Oil is reaching out to let everyone know that their baby oil is a fabulous moisturizer for moms, too! Honestly, I've been using baby oil on my skin on and off since college, when a friend told me she achieved her incredibly soft skin by rubbing baby oil all over herself before drying off after a shower. Ever since then, I've used baby oil in the coldest, driest winter months. After all, I'm a Minnesota mom blogger, and my skin definitely suffers when the weather is at it's most severe!
One thing I didn't love about using baby oil on myself in my college years was the baby scent. Of course, it smells delicious on an infant, but, as a college student, my fragrance tastes ran more toward Ralph Lauren Romance than “baby”. Another thing I found disconcerting was the residue the baby oil sometimes left on the shower floor. It occasionally made the tub a bit slippery, and my roommate considered giving me a Caution, Wet Floor sign to put up after I had showered!
Now Johnson's has come up with baby oil products that have soft, warm scent that's far more appropriate for moms. The Johnson's Shea & Cocoa Butter line of baby oil products is just what my grown-up dry skin needs! Even better, the Cocoa & Shea Butter line includes a Johnson's Baby Oil Gel and a Creamy Baby Oil in addition to the traditional liquid baby oil. That means I can apply the gel or creamy formula in the shower and leave the surface safe for my husband, who showers at the end of the day!
As a mom with extremely dry skin, I have to say that applying Johnson's baby oil immediately after I turn off the shower is the best way I've found to lock the moisture in. I've found that if I let it sit on my skin for about 5 minutes while I towel off my hair, moisturize my face and brush my teeth, I can pat off the excess baby oil and have skin that stays moisturized all day!
If your skin is crying for moisture during the winter months, break out that bottle of baby oil and try it after your next shower. If you love the way it works, think about trying out Johnson's Cocoa & Shea butter formula for a wonderful, gentle scent to go along with the moisuture!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Johnson’s and received the products necessary to facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.
