First, I want to thank everyone who linked up to my post on Friday about how Baby GoodBuys was partnering with many other bloggers to raise funds for disaster relief in Haiti!
On Friday morning I started visiting some of the sites to extend a personal “thank you” and also see the ways other bloggers were helping. Lots of blogs were doing something similar to what I did: donating a designated dollar amount based on links submitted. It absolutely warmed my heart to see the other ideas people had for raising funds or donating time and money:
- Superior Girls is donating $5 for every apron she sells in January.
- Pout Baby Boutique in Fargo is collecting new and used clothing to send to the infants and children in Haiti.
- An anonymous commenter donated her Swagbucks and used Facebook to spread the word about our blogging fundraising efforts.
That's just a fraction of the links and comments I received from my Help Haiti post. There are often moments when I wonder if I've grown cold or detached to the more depressing aspects of the world. Times like this truly renew my belief that, in the heart of it all, people are still good.
In the end, I had 53 valid links posted before midnight on Friday night. However, since I kept the linky open to see more blogs participate, the total number of links is now at 64. If you remember, my husband and I pledged to donate $10 for the first link and $1 for each one after that, so the total is $73. I like even numbers, so I'll round that up to $75! Our donation will go to the Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development fund. Please give yourself a hand and accept my heartfelt “thank you” for participating, spreading the word or just visiting and sending positive thoughts!
