I mentioned a few weeks ago that I'm excited for I'm Having Their Baby season 2, and I wanted to remind everyone that the show premieres TONIGHT on Oxygen! (June 12).
I also hosted a giveaway for a $50 AMEX gift card, and I'm pleased to announce the winner: Congrats to Thomas. The winner has already been contacted to claim the prize.
If this is the first time you're hearing about I'm Having Their Baby, here's a quick summary of what the show is all about:
I'm Having Their Baby premiered in 2012 as a documentary-style series that gives viewers an intimate view into the world of adoption from the birth mother's perspective. The show focuses on real people and their very real experience in making the very difficult and emotional choice to put their babies up for adoption.
I'm Having Their Baby documents the complicated and personal stories as these women struggle with their unplanned pregnancies, work through the adoption process and ultimately decide whether or not to place their baby up for adoption. You can also learn more at the Oxygen I'm Having Their Baby site.
I'm Having Their Baby season 2 will focus on everything season 1 offered and we'll get to see the added perspectives of family and friends who are affected by the birth mother's decision. We'll also have the chance to see the potential adoptive families for some of the cases on the show!
Over the course of this docu-series, I'm Having Their Baby will show a potential birth mothers with a wide range of background stories. Some are teenagers and some are well into their twenties. They're from locations across the United States and their personal circumstances are quite diverse. In the end, however, they're all struggling in their own way with the decision to put their own baby up for adoption.
It's very important to note that all of the birth mothers on I'm Having Their Baby wanted to share their story openly and honestly. Oxygen's goal was to be authentic when representing the personal journeys and accompanying mixed emotions that inevitably come along with that journey.
The women who are featured on I’m Having Their Baby had already sought out an adoption agency and had made the very personal choice to pursue adoption when they were approached to participate in the show. Adoption laws do vary from state to state. The production company, who had no part in influencing birth mothers, did a nationwide casting search to find these birth moms willing to share their stories. Once those individuals were selected, their stories were followed.
Are you adopted or have you been close to the adoption process? What sort of questions do you have? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
