Before I had kids, I never gave much thought to the true state of my floors. I definitely vacuumed, but I didn’t worry about what was left behind. Since I’ve been putting babies down on the floor, however, the state of my carpet is constantly on my mind. While both my husband and I would frequently vacuum, to my dismay, I was still finding cat hair on my little ones. I know it’s next to impossible to keep up with two shedding cats, but something had to be done.
My husband and I had been talking about getting a “good” vacuum for about a year, so I was very excited to partner with Dyson to review one of their products!
Dyson sent me the DC25 Animal vacuum cleaner to try out. This vacuum was a cinch to set up and start using. We just connected a few pieces, then the cleaning began. My husband suggested putting it to the test right away: vacuum with the old vacuum, then with the Dyson. Wow! The Dyson DC25 picked up so much dust and cat fur that the other vacuum had left behind. We were fully impressed right from the start!
This vacuum comes with all the attachments needed to keep your home clean, including a fantastic mini-turbine head that seems to mimic the “brushing” action of the main vacuum. The neat thing about using the attachments is that you don’t need to shut off the machine to start using them. The hose pops right out of the vacuum handle, and the machine automatically switches the suction from the main unit to the hose.
Other than the superb cleaning power, my favorite features of the DC25 Animal are the weight and easy maneuverability. Weighing in at less than 17 pounds, this vacuum cleaner is 11 pounds lighter than my old vacuum. Eleven pounds! That’s a huge difference, especially since we need to carry it up and down two sets of stairs! The vacuum also features the Dyson signature “Ball” design. The ball swivels the head of the vacuum around and gets it into places I thought I’d have to use the attachment to get at. Really, I was able to get around furniture and corners I’ve never been able to push a vacuum into!
I have to say that I’m so happy I have this vacuum since my baby will be crawling in a matter of months! The vacuum comes with a lifetime washable HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens so the vacuum can expel clean air. That fact leaves me with a really good feeling about keeping our environment healthy for my babies. I’m also not finding cat hair like I used to, and my home just feels cleaner after using the Dyson DC25 Animal. At a price of $549, it’s definitely an investment, but I do recommend it for being the one vacuum cleaner that seems to get all the pet fur off the floor!
Buy it: The DC25 Animal sells for $549 on Amazon.com with free shipping.

The DC25 ball is a great vacuum. As with all Dysons, I think you pay a premium for the name brand. Even so, it is still probably worth it.
