Just over a week ago I was in New York City for BlogHer 12. While it wasn’t affiliated with the conference, the wonderful people at Land’s End and MomTrends organized a fabulous “Night School” party to introduce bloggers to their Fall 2012 selection.
I have to say, I went nonstop to parties, meetings and events from Wednesday at noon to Saturday at 10:00 pm, but the Land’s End party was one of my favorites. After gathering us up in the hotel lobby, small groups of bloggers boarded school buses to head to a studio just a few minutes away.
While on the bus we were given a Land’s End report card with our assignments on it. Every blogger was to visit various stations spread out over three floors to experience various aspects of back-to -school. After every station had been visited, we’d be able to pick out a Land’s End backpack to take home to our kiddos!
The stations were a mix of Land’s End key product overviews, fun pampering experiences and back-to-school tips for kids of all ages.
I learned that Land’s End backpacks are constructed to be safe: every Land’s End backpack has reflectivity, they’re all ergonomically crafted and they all have no-tip designs to keep the pack upright. The Featherlight line is designed to be as light as possible while safely transporting a laptop.
The Land’s End Iron Knee pants have an invisible polyester patch on the inside knee fabric to double the durability right where kids need it the most.
After learning about the products, we had the chance to style a back-to-school outfit with our favorite items from the Land’s End Fall 2012 line. My outfit is pictured above and it’s on the Land’s End Facebook page, where I’m in competition for a $500 gift card! I’d really appreciate it if you clicked here and LIKED it on Facebook!

After that it was time to move to the second floor, where we were treated to a quick hairstyle from Warren Tricomi and Revlon makeup applications before having “classy” photos taken.
Finally, the third floor featured celebrity chef Sam Talbot who was sharing some of his favorite lunchbox recipes (I’ll share a few in a future post, I promise!). After plenty of samples, I got to meet with the lovely Happy Family folks who were sharing details and samples from their new kids’ snack line. I took home packets of freeze-dried carrots and apples, fruit bites, smoothies, and pureed fruits and veggies to share with my own little ones.
My final stop was to learn about their gorgeous plus-size line directly from advocate and blogger Brittany Gibbons. She showed off Land’s End’s hot fall looks in flattering plus sizes, introduced their wrap and sheath dresses and shared plus size fashion tips.
The very last “class” in the Land’ End school was choosing the color and style of dress that I wanted and providing my details so they should ship it to me!
After I received a perfect report card with an A+ in every class, I went back downstairs and picked out an adorable, functional Land’s End backpack to take with me.
All in all, I had so much fun at the Land’s End Night School event. It was well-organized with plenty to do and lots of time to talk to all the attendees, plus, they sent everyone home with a dress and a backpack!
Land’s End provided the dress and backpack to all bloggers who attended the party. They’re also providing a promotional item for writing about the event. All opinions and experiences are 100% honest and my own.
