This is a guest review from my sister, Molly, who is the most inspiring money-saver and frugal thinker I know!
Tonight I went to Sears to see if thier Kidvantage Wear Out Warranty is really a valid guarantee. Our 9 year old had worn a hole in the knee of his jeans and our 4 year old did the same. This usually happens in our house. Our kids, like most, are really tough on clothing. Several months before, I had learned of the Wear Out Warranty when a cashier had me sign up for KidVantage, so I decided to buy some jeans for my kids and give the warranty a test drive. I went back to Sears with my two pairs of torn jeans and my receipt. The receipt was old – I had purchased these jeans months ago. It was not a problem at all – The cashier exchanged the jeans for the same size and brand without any questions The manager had to approve the transaction so it took about 5 minutes but I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this guarantee! From now on the first place I will shop for jeans is Sears!
When I got home I read the back of my new receipt with the return policy. This is what it states:
KidVantage Wear Out Warranty – As a KidVantage member, If your kid’s clothes or kid’s shoes wear out before they outgrow them, Sears will replace them with an identical item or similar item of equal value in the same size. Your receipt is required to replace worn-out Lee and Levi’s jeans.
I love that the Warranty is good for any brand of jeans, not just the generic Sears brand!
KidVantage is free to join. Here are some details from the Sears Website:
- Becoming a member of our KidVantage Club is easy. You can join this club by signing up at any register in your local full-line Sears store.
- Every time you spend $100.00 on kids / infant clothing and kids / infant shoes, you will receive a coupon for 15% off your next kids / infant apparel purchase. The coupon is ready to use and is attached to the end of your receipt.
- The KidVantage Club offers the Wear Out Warranty. When your baby grows up and your kids clothing or kids shoes wear out before they are out grown, Sears will replace them for free.
Do you have any experience with the KidVantage Warranty? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

I’ve been a KidVantage member since my now 10 year old was probably 3 years old. I have 3 kids, but typically only buy the 10 year old’s clothes using KidVantage because he goes through the knees in his jeans in 2-3 month’s time. I also am a big fan of the winter jackets Sears has had for $12.99 on Black Friday the last couple of years. Last year 2 of my kids wore out their jackets prior to the winter season ending and they were both replaced through KidVantage. There really is no better program than KidVantage!!

My mom had this from when we were kids. I'm now 25 and was able to use the same account for my new baby. The money she'd had on the account was still there! So at least for now you can sign up and assume your account will possibly never expire, ha ha.
