I only recently started loving stuffing with my Thanksgiving dinner. I know, I’m crazy, but I was accustomed to having a pre-packaged stuffing served alongside the bird, and I just wasn’t interested in the artificial flavors and all the salt that goes with a stuffing that only requires water to create.

Last year, my brother-in-law requested homemade stuffing to be served at our Thanksgiving dinner. I rose to the challenge and looked to my favorite resource for entertaining recipes: The Pioneer Woman Cooks. I love The Pioneer Woman’s recipes for when I want to serve a special dish to family and friends. After I read the basic, savory ingredients and easy preparation, I was sold. I was sure this stuffing would please our entire family!

The ingredients for The Pioneer Woman’s Thanksgiving Stuffing include:

Bread
Butter
Onion
Celery
Chicken Broth (I’m using Swanson Broth)
Several fresh and dried herbs

Simple enough, right? I had no idea that there was The Great Stuffing Debate!

It’s funny, when I told my coworkers last year that I was making Thanksgiving stuffing for the first time, the not-exciting announcement escalated into a huge discussion about what does and does not belong in dressing! There ended up being a long list of controversial items that we debated over an entire lunch outing! The list included:

Eggs

Nuts
Fruit
Mushrooms

I have a family full of picky eaters, so, even after the conversation I decided to stick with the original recipe. I didn’t go wrong: the stuffing was a huge hit and I’ll be making it again this year!
