Free Letter K Tracing Worksheet

Letter K has more parts than it looks like, and kids who are learning the alphabet can struggle with getting the angles right.

This free printable letter K tracing worksheet walks preschool and kindergarten kids through writing uppercase K and lowercase k formats with dashed letter outlines.

What’s on This Worksheet

  • Rows of dashed uppercase K outlines to trace
  • Rows of dashed lowercase k outlines to trace
  • Combined uppercase and lowercase rows to trace together
  • A picture of a kite to color

This worksheet prints on a standard sheet of printer paper (8.5″ x 11″).

Some tips for teaching the letter K

K has a tall line and two diagonal lines. One diagonal goes from the middle of the tall line up to the top right, the other goes from that same middle point down to the bottom right. Both diagonals need to meet the tall line at the same spot — that meeting point is what kids most often get wrong.

Lowercase k is the same idea, smaller. The tall line goes all the way up, and the two diagonals meet it at the midpoint. Follow the dashed outlines carefully on the first few tries.

Go slow on the diagonals. K is a good letter for practicing pencil control because the angles require little hands to make deliberate movements. Rushing produces wobbly, inconsistent lines.
