When I was designing my first baby’s nursery, I didn’t have any artistic ideas. Like, none. I didn’t have close friends with babies, I knew nothing about nursery themes, and I especially knew nothing about farmhouse nursery decor. I absolutely didn’t know about baby nursery inspiration like I do now.

A bright and airy farmhouse nursery with white walls and a large window embraces farmhouse nursery decor. It features a white crib, a rocking chair with a pink cushion, a changing table, and walls adorned with a wreath and macramé hanging. Soft, natural lighting fills the room.

Now, years later, I long to design a farmhouse nursery with all sorts of warm, charming elements.

I’m in love with the warmth and feeling of farmhouse style. The natural textures, rustic accents and cozy details make the baby’s space feel both timeless and comfortable.

If you’re dreaming of a nursery theme that blends comfort and style, I’ve found a bunch of farmhouse nursery decor ideas to help you create a beautiful and functional bedroom for baby.

Time to explore a world where the farmhouse style is anything but basic, turning your baby’s bedroom into standout design statements!

19 Beautiful farmhouse nursery decor ideas

One of the main things I love about the farmhouse decor concepts that I’ve seen is that many of them are easily gender neutral.

Galvanized metal, weathered wood, and other elements are easily paired with specific colors, or combined with other neutrals for a lovely look.

1. Repurposed furniture

A bright farmhouse nursery decor features a large window and a vintage vanity repurposed as a changing table. A white armchair, decorative ladder with blanket, and shelves adorned with small decor complete the room. A beaded chandelier elegantly hangs from the ceiling.

Repurposed furniture can add a lot of character to a room. And if you do it yourself, you can adapt most wooden pieces to a farmhouse style.

Use repurposed furniture pieces, like an antique dresser turned changing table or a refurbished bookcase, to add character to the room. I love the look of old, wooden vanities in a cottage nursery.

These items not only look beautiful but also bring a sense of history and sustainability to your design.

2. Weathered wood cribs

A cozy farmhouse nursery with a weathered wood crib adorned with a pink and white quilt. The room features soft pink walls, a rocking chair, shelves with rustic decor, framed art, and a changing table by a window with wooden shutters. Natural light floods the charming space.

Weathered wood cribs offer a timeless farmhouse look for the most important piece of furniture.

A weathered wood crib is the centerpiece of a farmhouse-style nursery. Look for finishes like distressed oak or whitewashed pine to add rustic charm and timeless appeal. Another way to enhance the style is to pair it with soft bedding in neutral tones or gingham patterns to enhance the cozy, farmhouse vibe.

This crib will anchor the room with a perfect balance of style and function.

3. Shiplap walls

A cozy nursery showcases farmhouse decor with a wooden crib adorned with floral decorations and a small pennant banner. There's a cutout section of shiplap behind the crib. There's a delicate wreath on a pointed backdrop, soft lighting, a comfy chair on the right, and a patterned rug on the floor.

Shiplap walls set a rustic tone and instantly evoke a farmhouse feel in a nursery.

It can be painted in crisp white, left in natural wood tones, or even accented with neutral and pale colors. Shiplap walls adds texture and character to the nursery.

Use it as an accent wall behind the crib or throughout the room for a cohesive look. You can even just do a section of a wall in shiplap. It’s a subtle and effective way to set the stage for rustic decor.

4. Galvanized metal accents

Rustic farmhouse nursery decor features a wooden crib, white bedding, and wall art on light-toned walls. galvanized metal storage bins are on a stand and shelves, while a large pendant light hangs from the ceiling, enhancing the rustic atmosphere.

Galvanized metal accents provide a farmhouse feel while also providing functionality.

Incorporate galvanized metal accents, like storage bins, light fixtures, or decorative planters, to infuse the room with farmhouse charm.

These metallic touches complement the natural wood elements and provide a practical yet stylish way to store essentials like diapers and toys.

5. Barn door closet

Cozy farmhouse nursery decor featuring a cream-colored armchair, a white dresser, and a crib draped with a pink canopy. The sliding closet doors reveal neatly arranged baby clothes and stuffed animals. A woven light fixture adds rustic charm from the ceiling.

A barn door closet is a charming detail that communicates your design ideas for your farmhouse nursery.

A sliding barn door on the closet is a statement piece that screams farmhouse style.

Choose a weathered wood finish or painted option to match the nursery’s color scheme. Not only does it add charm, but it’s also a space-saving solution that’s perfect for smaller rooms.

6. Neutral color palettes

A neutral color palette with pops of warm tones is ideal for farmhouse decor. The combination of warm hues on neutral colors creates a soothing and welcoming environment for an infant.

Use shades of whites, creams and greys as the canvas for your design. Then add warmth with pops of terra cotta, mustard yellow or soft greens through accent pillows, wall art and curtains.

7. Rustic rocking chairs

A cozy nursery features farmhouse decor with a white wooden crib adorned with a quilt next to a light-colored rocking chair. A small side table holds a decor item, with a mirror above. A striped rug covers part of the wooden floor, while sunlight streams through the window.

Choose a chair in weathered wood or wicker to add a cozy touch to your nursing space or reading nook.

Pair the rocking chair with a pretty seat cushion or a textured throw blanket for even more softness. This corner will quickly become a homey spot for baby snuggles and late-night feedings.

8. Farmhouse-inspired wall art

Farmhouse-inspired wall art and wall signs will instantly tell a story to visitors and make the space feel uniquely yours.

Decorate your nursery walls with unique art, like wooden signs with treasured quotes, nature-themed prints or vintage-style illustrations. Farm animal wall art is also appropriate for nursery wall decor.

Another great idea is decorating your wall with florals or greenery, or even a wreath. The natural accent is perfect for a welcoming appearance.

Quotes and art add personality and individuality to a special space.

9. Textured rugs

A cozy farmhouse nursery features a wooden crib with a white mattress, surrounded by soft pillows. A farmhouse-inspired rocking chair with cushions sits nearby. Wall shelves display stuffed animals and decor, enhancing the room’s warm, inviting atmosphere.

Textured rugs create a stylish and comfortable floor. This is even more valuable when you make late-night visits to the nursery or when baby starts crawling.

Layer a textured rug, like a jute or braided option, to bring warmth and depth to the room.

These natural materials complement the rustic elements while providing a soft surface for tummy time and play.

10. Vintage-inspired lighting

Vintage-inspired lighting provides soft ambience in a cozy room.

Opt for vintage-style lighting fixtures, such as a distressed metal pendant or a chandelier with rustic wood details. These lights create a warm, inviting glow that’s perfect for bedtime routines.

11. Soft layered fabrics

Soft, layered fabrics give a warm feeling of farmhouse charm.

Layer soft fabrics, like linen curtains, cotton blankets, and woven throws, to add comfort and texture to the nursery. Stick to neutral tones or subtle patterns, such as stripes or checks, for a cohesive farmhouse look.

Display family photos and other art in distressed wood or metal frames to personalize the nursery.

Placing photos of beloved family members will help your baby recognize the people closest to them. You can also frame artwork and favorite quotes to tie them into the farmhouse theme.

Choose frames in varying sizes and finishes for an eclectic yet coordinated gallery that celebrates your growing family.

You can also leave a frame empty to showcase an item behind it.

13. Wicker baskets

A cozy farmhouse nursery features a wooden crib, a yellow armchair, and a shelf filled with books and decor. Woven baskets are neatly placed on an overhead shelf. Soft natural light enters through a window with light curtains.

Wicker baskets provide storage with a rustic twist.

Here’s what I love about wicker baskets and bins: They’re both practical and decorative, making them ideal for storing toys, blankets, or baby clothes. Their natural texture adds warmth and blends seamlessly with farmhouse decor. They’re also usually a neutral color, which works for most paint and decor choices..

14. Growth charts

A white growth chart hangs on a white shiplap wall, marked with numbers 1 through 6, embodying farmhouse nursery decor. Next to it, a small table holds a blue basket and a potted succulent plant.

Track your baby’s milestones with a farmhouse-inspired growth chart.

Designs made from reclaimed wood or those that feature rustic details will match the theme beautifully. Even better, a pretty growth chart is a functional keepsake that will grow with your child.

17. Handmade quilts

Is there anything that adds a more personal touch than something handmade? Handmade quilts add a layer of love and warmth to your baby’s farmhouse nursery.

Homemade quilts can be gifted, made by you or even commissioned, and it’s always the thought that counts!

These cozy blankets will become cherished keepsakes, and they’ll tie in perfectly with the rustic theme.

18. Subtle gingham textiles
