Free Letter B Tracing Worksheet

Letter B is one of the first letters most kids tackle when they’re learning how to write. It’s also one of the trickiest for little hands to get right.

This free printable letter B tracing worksheet helps preschool and kindergarten kids practice both uppercase B and lowercase b using dashed letter outlines.

What’s on This Worksheet

  • Rows of dashed uppercase B outlines to trace
  • Rows of dashed lowercase b outlines to trace
  • Combined uppercase and lowercase rows to trace together
  • A picture of a book to color

This is a one page worksheet that prints on a sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper.

A Few Tips

Watch for the b/d mix up. Letter reversal is common, and these two letters are extra-common in early childhood. It’s completely normal through at least age 7.

Use Bat before ball. For lowercase b, the tall line comes first, then the bump goes to the right. “Bat before ball” is a popular reminder – tell your kid you swing the bat (tall line) before the ball (bump) appears.

Laminate it. Slide the printed sheet into a page protector and let your child use a dry-erase marker. Wipe and repeat as many times as needed – one print goes a long way.
