Free Letter G Tracing Worksheet

For kids who are learning how to write letters, letter G builds directly on the C stroke they already know.

This free printable letter G tracing worksheet walks preschool and kindergarten kids through uppercase G and lowercase g using dashed letter outlines.

What’s on This Worksheet

  • Rows of dashed uppercase G outlines to trace
  • Rows of dashed lowercase g outlines to trace
  • Combined uppercase and lowercase rows to trace together
  • A picture of a girl to color

This worksheet prints on a standard sheet of printer paper (8.5″ x 11″).

A Few Tips

G starts just like C. Same counterclockwise curve from the 2 o’clock position – then instead of stopping, you add a short horizontal shelf pointing inward at the middle. If your child has the C stroke down, try describing G as “C with a little shelf.” It usually clicks quickly.

Lowercase g has a tail. The round part sits on the baseline, and the tail drops below it. Kids often forget the tail or draw it going the wrong direction. The correct move: form the round part, then extend the right side down and curve left into the tail.

Laminate it. The lowercase g in particular benefits from lots of repetition. A page protector and dry-erase marker makes that easy without wasting paper.
