A Few Tips
Uppercase Y has two diagonals that meet in the center, then a tail going down. Both diagonals need to land at exactly the same spot before the tail continues down to the baseline.
Let kids choose the color. Giving kids control over which crayon or marker they use for independent practice rows increases is a simple way to get them on board with learning how to write.
Y is one of the most useful letters in early writing. You, yes, yet, yell – and as a vowel sound in words like gym. Pointing out how often Y appears in words your child already knows makes the practice feel purposeful.
