In my last Moana post I said it was the film of 2016 for me. But now I'm taking it a step further: I'm pretty sure that I'm more excited for Moana than I have been for any other Disney movie!
Most important to me: Lin-Manuel Miranda is composing music for the movie!
I've seen movies just for the soundtrack before, but Moana is guaranteed to have an amazing soundtrack and so much more! (Check out other things I've written about Lin-Manuel Miranda before for more details.)
On top of the music, the movie promises to be gorgeous (look at that poster above!), and the story sounds amazing.
The Story of Moana:
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people.
During her journey, Moana meets the mighty demigod Maui, who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds.
Along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
Disney also just released a new Moana TV spot! Check it out below or see it on YouTube:

Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”), and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
