About this S’mores Ice Cream Recipe
Making our own ice cream at home is often viewed as “hard” but it’s really not the case. In fact, there are some specific reasons why I actually prefer homemade ice cream over the store-bought kind.
Homemade ice cream has just a handful of simple ingredients
If I don’t know what a word means on the back of the packaging, it drives me nuts. Why would I want to put that in my body if I have no idea what it is? (or my kid’s bodies, too!)
Making food at homes means I’m in charge of what is going into the recipe.
Instant chocolate pudding is a MUST
The regular pudding might tempt you but the recipe isn’t going to turn out the same way. Using instant pudding is what helps this simple ice cream recipe set up quickly and easily.
You can have fun with the toppings
While I know the entire theme of this ice cream recipe is s’mores, you can change it up and create whole new flavors as well.
Think cherries, shredded coconut, and even some slivered almonds and you’ve got a whole new treat and flavor of ice cream!
But the most important part of this recipe? Let it freeze and fully set up first in the freezer.
Because if not, you’re going to have a giant bowl of liquid. And while it might still taste amazing, it just won’t have that same cool and yummy effect.
What you need for making this no-churn ice cream recipe
The great news about this simple recipe is that you need minimal ingredients to whip it up!
As long as you have a large mixing bowl, you’re really not going to have any issues with creating this simple ice cream recipe.
What does no-churn mean?
Basically, no-churn ice cream means that you don’t need an ice cream maker to make this recipe. You can make it by hand, without any other appliances besides you’re mixer.
What milk is best for making ice cream?
You’re actually going to want some sort of milk base that has a higher fat content. While this recipe uses sweetened condensed milk, full cream milk is also going to be great, too.
Just skip out on the skim milk or low fat milks if at all possible.
Is heavy whipping cream the same as heavy cream?
Yes…and no. Basically, they’re very, very similar. But heavy whipping cream does tend to have a little bit more fat that just regular whipping cream.
And when you’re making your own ice cream at home, you’re going to want to have that extra fat content to create this delicious dish.
