A few tips for teaching this number
“Curve down and around until it sticks. That’s the way to make a six.” Use the rhyme while demonstrating to help your kids learn how to write the number 6. The loop at the bottom is where most kids go wrong: they either leave it open or make it too small. Encourage trying again to get them to complete the loop or bring it up above the middle line.
6 and 9 are are easily mixed up. This is one of the most common number reversals. Showing them side by side and practicing the number 9 writing worksheet alongside this one can help kids distinguish between the two.
Count the cows. Six is in the range where most kids need to count individually rather than recognize the quantity instantly. That is completely normal — subitizing six objects develops gradually through kindergarten.
