This is the best recipe for pork chops! Quality chops are pan-fried, then topped with a warm, lightly spiced caramel glaze and sliced apples.
It’s perfect for fall, and it’s one of those recipes everyone in my family enjoys. You can finish your meal with fresh apple crisp that’s easily made from my canned apple pie filling!
I picked up this package of pork chops at Costco on Wednesday. There were nine super-thick chops included, and I saved an additional $2.50 off the sticker price. That made my final price $14.28 for just over 5 pounds of pork chops.
What I really love is that the quality of everything in Costco’s meat department is second to none. I honestly think it’s better than the selection offered at our local gourmet grocery stores. I’m definitely ok with paying $3 a pound for this cut of pork almost anywhere, but to get these particular chops for under $3 per pound is pretty amazing!
There were also several other pork varieties being sold at great prices.
There are so many ways to make delicious pork dishes. If you’re looking for a recipe that’s not made with caramel apples, check out this recipe for blue cheese crusted pork chops.
If you’re looking for a less sweet, more savory way to prepare your chops, take a look at these French onion smothered pork chops or this crockpot pork roast and gravy.
This smoked pork loin roast looks like a delicious way to prepare a bigger cut of meat.
Spiced Caramel Apple Pork Chops
These are the two things that make this recipe truly special:
Mixing together a simple marinade of apple juice and soy sauce will tenderize and add flavor to the chops. You can marinate the meat for as little as 10 minutes to infuse great taste without waiting around.
Apples, tossed with warm fall spices and brown sugar, then cooked in butter, results in a rich, sweet and savory topping that’s perfect for pork chops!
Believe me, this is a fast and easy way to prepare pork chops that will leave everyone at your table impressed!
Spiced Caramel Apple Pork Chops Recipe
Pork chops, tart apples and a warm, sweetly spiced caramel glaze come together in a delicious combination of flavors!
Ingredients
- 1 pound pork chops (2-4)
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch cloves and/or cayenne pepper (for added spice)
- salt & pepper to taste
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2-3 apples
Instructions
Combine apple juice and soy sauce in a bowl. Add pork chops and let marinate at least 10 minutes while you prep the rest of the dish.
Combine brown sugar, salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Peel, core and slice apples into small wedges, then add to the brown sugar mix.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Sear pork chops for one minute on each side. Reduce heat to medium/medium-low and cook chops for 3-5 minutes on each side until internal temp reaches 145 degrees.
Remove chops from the pan to rest. Add butter to the same hot skillet. Gently pour in the brown sugar/apple mixture and stir until apples are soft and the caramel is bubbly.
Spoon spiced caramel and apples over pork chops and serve.

Geri S says
6 to 8 pork chops
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 – 1/2 tablespoons salt
2 teaspoons pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
5 fresh sage leaves
3 – 1/2 cups whole milk
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
Rinse pork and pet dry. In a small bowl, mix flour, salt and pepper, sprinkle mixture over pork. Pour oil into a 10 – to 12 – inch frying pan over medium-high heat; add pork and turn to brown well on all sides, about 15 minutes. Transfer pork and juices to a slow-cooker (at least 5 qt.).
Let pan cool slightly, then add garlic and sage, stir over medium-low heat until garlic turns golden, about 1 minute. Add to the slow-cooker, along with milk and lemon peel.
Cover and cook on high until pork is tender when pieced and sauce is golden and reduced by about half, 7 to 8 hours; about 3 hours before pork is done, uncover the crock to let the pan juices reduce and thicken.
Serve meat with sauce on the side.
YIELD: Makes 6 servings
NOTES: This is a rather lumpy, toffee-colored sauce, but it is one of the most succulent ays to cook pork. You’ll need to uncover the cooker for the last three hours, so plan ahead. Serve with polenta and a green salad.
