Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Guide for Moms
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is one of Disney World’s most popular events.
I love both Disney and Halloween (a few of my all-time favorite posts are Over 130 free Disney pumpkin carving patterns and 45 No-Carve Disney Pumpkin ideas!) and I’ve been wanting to attend this theme park Halloween celebration for a very long time.
But I’m in Minnesota, and Disney World’s Halloween party has never lined up with the family vacations we’ve planned.
This year, things were different. I happened to attend a conference at Disney World last week that included a ticket for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! The sad part was that my husband and kids weren’t with me, but that did make it easier to see how I would approach it if I did have my kids with me.
Since I had plenty of advance notice before traveling to Florida and going to MNSSHP, I took the time to research and prepare so I could maximize my time there. I wanted to be sure I experienced all things Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party had to offer!
After all that research, you can bet I had the best time and I did absolutely everything I wanted to do during the party. Of course, I wish I’d had more time to spend doing all of it, but I can honestly say I did all the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party things!

Make your Halloween costume decisions
You’ll see in the FAQ below that costumes are totally optional when attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
There’s a pretty even mix of people who are dressed up and people who are just wearing everyday clothing. I chose to do a fun Captain America cosplay with a group of ladies who also wore costumes made with tutus. But you can truly wear whatever you want, as long as you meet Disney’s event costume guidelines.

Are there different, special events at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party?
Yes. In my opinion, this is what makes Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party worth it. The dance parties are small and fun, and the small crowds make participating less intimidating for shy kids.
I have to say, though, that the combination of Mickey’s “Boo-To-You” Halloween Parade and Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks show makes the cost of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party worth it. The parade is amazing, and it feels very special to be there watching it.
The fireworks show, however, is outstanding. It’s honestly incredible. The projections on Cinderella’s castle are sharp and creative, and the choreographed fireworks are out of this world. There’s a sweet story that goes along with it, and the entire combination is absolutely spectacular.
